FMCP Eligibility & Enrollment
The Financial Management Certificate Program is currently not accepting new applications. We are assessing the program to determine what changes are necessary to meet the challenges that will face financial managers in the evolving university organization.
Current business officers and staff who will become business officers in the near future are eligible to participate in the FMCP. Admission to the program requires a commitment to complete the full program within 18 months of starting the first course on Ethics. Participants are encouraged to take the core courses in the order listed on the program curriculum section in order to develop a network of peers, sharing a common experience. Participation should be ongoing. If a participant is idle for more than six months, the participant will be taken out of the program.
Courses are only available in the context of program enrollment. Those not wishing to commit to the program will not be allowed to attend individual courses.
Because of the demand for this program, a prospective participant’s enrollment priority will be determined by each Vice Chancellor’s Control Unit Manager. Enrollment is limited to 40 participants per Cohort. Each Control Unit will decide the criteria for selecting participants for each Cohort.
How to Enroll in the FMCP
Currently, FMCP is not accepting new applications. If FMCP begins accepting new applications, an announcement will be made on this website, through the BFS list serve, and the Control Units.
New Cohorts are formed twice in a calendar year. Open Enrollment periods are announced to the campus and updated information is posted to this web site. Applications are accepted during an enrollment period that begins approximately six weeks prior to the beginning of a new Cohort. If you are interested in applying to the program, you must complete the application, receive approval from your supervisor (e.g., chair, director, dean), and submit your application to the appropriate Control Unit Manager during the enrollment period. Each Control Unit Manager will determine the enrollment priority for prospective participants.
The Controller's Office will contact you after acceptance into the program with instructions on how to sign up for individual courses via the UC Learning Center.
