Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) Migration to UC Office of the President (UCOP)
The Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) moved in August 2009 from the Berkeley campus mainframe to that of UC Office of the President (UCOP). Moving the system from the campus mainframe to UCOP's mainframe will result in improved efficiencies and cost savings.
What does this mean to you?
This move will NOT affect employees directly. Users of the Online Payroll Time Reporting System (OPTRS) will need to make minor adjustments. Please take this opportunity to review the subtle changes that will occur and think about your process and interfaces to be confident that you will not be impacted by these changes.
New User IDs
Customers that use the Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) have been assigned new User IDs. The process to request a User ID for new users remains unchanged and should be submitted via SARA (Systems Access Request Application).
New HostExplorer setting
The settings within HostExplorer (how you log on the PSS system) have changed. See instructions for configuring HostExplorer.
Additional information, ongoing process changes related to the migration, and FAQ's can be found on IST's website.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
After the migration, will my screen look different?
No. The look, feel, and function of PPS will remain the same.
After the migration, how will I print?
You will continue to print as you have always printed.
Will PageCenter change because of the move?
Your PageCenter logon ID, passphrase and logon screen will continue to operate as before using your CalNet ID. However, all pagesets generated by PPS jobs running at UCOP will be named differently than pagesets generated by PPS jobs running at UCB. For pagesets generated by PPS jobs running at UCOP, the pageset name will be the same as the report ID, e.g., PPP5302.
If I have access to a CICS region for testing will I continue to have access?
No. You will have to work through Central Payroll for testing.
