An application for connecting Windows PC users to IBM zSeries (S/390) mainframe, IBM iSeries (AS/400) and UNIX systems via TCP/IP. TN3270 is an example of a terminal emulator used at the university.
Chart of Accounts (COA)
The set of fields used in the financial system to track the nature and stewardship of expenses and allocations, as well as other financial activity and balances of the campus. The COA is made up of seven chartfields called a chartstring: Business Unit, Account, Fund, Org, Program, Project (optional), Flexfield (optional).
Distributed System/distributed processing
Allows users in individual departments or units to enter transactions directly, with the appropriate security and safeguards. This is in contrast to a centralized system, where a key entry unit or a small group of specialists does data entry.
